The Broad @ ARRAY Presents CAR WASH
Cult classic CAR WASH rolls through ARRAY's new Cinema Lounge to close out The Broad's Soul of a Nation exhibition. Featuring legendary artists Ivan Dixon, Bill Duke, Antonio Fargas, George Carlin, The Pointer Sisters, and Richard Pryor, Michael Schultz's iconic comedy follows an eclectic group of characters who work at a car wash in Los Angeles as friendships, love and sexuality get put through the ringer. By the end of the day, most of the wash staff are just happy that they made it through another shift. Check-in and pre-party start at 6:30 p.m. Post-screening artist talk featuring Michael Schultz and a moderator to follow.
The Broad @ ARRAY is an ongoing screening series featuring classic and contemporary films curated by filmmaker Ava DuVernay to explore the intersection of art, history and cultural identity. With cinematic images as the centerpiece, this series engages audiences through robust post-screening conversations with a wide spectrum of artists and scholars. These immersive discussions offer an integrated exchange of ideas and insights beyond the screen that enliven many issues addressed by artists in the Broad collection.
